Though taking a very liberal dose of inspiration from Deathspell Omega here, Plebeian Grandstand do occupy a unique spot at the intersection of black metal and hardcore that is unsettling, unconventional, and most of all, uncompromising in its intensity and vision. If I had to capture the mood of False Highs, True Lows, it would be “devoid of hope”, as this really is one of the bleakest albums to which I have had the pleasure of listening. Give yourself to oblivion and embrace the void. Ippocalyptica
